Part 1 of my interview with Husein Raad, Ras Al Ayn Local Council member from Amouda.
“We are now in a kind of big prison. Like Gaza. 100 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide. It is forbidden for humanitarian and aid organizations to work here. Due to the veto of the international community, “ Hussein Raad about the Peace Spring area, Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ayn in northeast Syria.
Hussein Raad (39), of mixed Arab and Kurdish origine, had to flee Amouda years ago because of repressive PYD rule. He lived in Turkish Ceylanpinar, the Turkish mirror town of Ras al-Ayn for years, and came back to Syria when YPG was removed in Ras al-Ayn in 2019. Raad is a member of the local council in Ras al-Ayn. Last week I interviewed him in Gaziantep.
